Andy Barney

Andy was born in Oxford, England. He was brought up in a soccer family with two generations of professional play. Andy was a registered semi-professional player with Oxford at age 16. From ages 16-23 Andy worked full-time in business while playing for various English clubs. He became a Branch Sales Manager for a large office equipment company at age 20. At age 23 Andy left the business world to study Physical Education. From1981-1984 he was an ever present first XI player with the British Collegiate team. He graduated with honors in Physical education at age 26. Before moving to America he coached British youth soccer teams for ten years and lectured in Physical Education.

After emigrating to the U.S. he founded British Soccer Camps, the world’s largest soccer camp organization. From age 27 to 32 he served as Director of Coaching for the Kansas Soccer Association, Mid-West Girls Regional Director of Coaching and the USSF as a U19 National Staff Coach/Selector. He simultaneously worked as Director of Marketing and Coaching for All American Indoor Sports, a KC based multi-million dollar indoor soccer and sports mall organization. Andy founded and ran the National Indoor Soccer Council before handing the reins to the USISA. He is currently a member of the US Indoor Soccer Association’s Advisory Board. He coached men’s college soccer at Avila University, is an NSCAA Convention clinician and is currently in his 21st year as Director of Coaching for the Kansas City Legends Soccer Club. Andy holds a United States Soccer Federation “A License” an NSCAA “Advanced National Diploma” and 14 coaching qualifications in 8 other sports.

Andy’s Legends club teams have won 13 National Indoor Championships & 3 USYSA Regional Championships. In 2002 a team with ten of Andy’s former U18 players, beat Southern California 9-1 in the final four en route to winning the U20 National Outdoor Championship. Andy is the owner of Soccer Excellence Inc., the K.C. Legends Soccer Club, National Indoor Soccer Championship, SuperClubs North America, the SuperClubs National Team Tours and the National HappyFeet Preschool & Legends Soccer Club franchise system.

Andy is the author of “Training Soccer Legends” a 320 page book with a unique deceptive dribbling and goal scoring individual perspective on youth coaching.

Andy has produced two best selling DVD’s, “Legendary 1 v 1 Moves” & “Training Legendary 1 v 1 Moves”. He is currently writing his second book “Legends for Life”. Andy plans to write a third book "Geneticism and Discrimination in Youth Soccer". Andy has a vision and mission to develop all children into brave, creative leaders for life through soccer.

As a youth player, Kyle played for the 83/84 Legends and Andy Barney for 14 years. Kyle's team won the Kansas State Cup during his tenure. However, they are more noteworthy for winning 5 National Indoor Soccer Championships between the ages of 12 and 18. Kyle and his teammates (including Legends coach Andrew Clifton) were incredible at beating opponents and scoring goals in and around the box. After 14 years in the club Kyle is a firm believer in the unique Legends philosophy.

Kyle had a storied career at O’Hara High School. In his four years he received four all state selections and two Kansas City all-metro selections. Kyle’s high school career culminated in a second place finish at the state tournament, the school’s highest ever finish. Kyle was recognized for his achievements by being chosen to play in the Missouri vs. Kansas high school all-star game.

Kyle was also a mainstay on the Missouri ODP team and was chosen to participate in the Wizards youth academy along with several of his Legends teammates.

From 2002 – 2007 Kyle attended Drury University on a soccer scholarship. Kyle was a two year team captain at Drury and guided them to a top ten national ranking his senior year. Kyle graduated with honors from Drury and went on to receive his masters in business administration from the university also. While in attendance at Drury, Kyle also spent two years playing for the Springfield Demize in the Professional Development League. In 2007 Kyle was voted team MVP by the coaches and invited to the leagues combine in Florida.

Kyle is currently in his 10th year coaching in the Legends club and has coached every age group from Jr. Legends to high school. His resume includes two Jr. State Cup championships and numerous players have graduated from his teams to play collegiately. Kyle was also a multiple session presenter at this past years United Soccer Coaches Convention. 

Kyle has worked full-time for the Legends Soccer club for the past 12 years in a variety of roles.. Kyle has chosen to follow his passion for teaching and promoting the unique Legends method instead of the business career route that was open to him.

Kyle has an immensely fun, caring, empathetic way with children.

Matt Iverson

Iverson grew up in Prairie Village played for Johnson County Community College for two years, where he earned numerous awards.  He was named 1st teamall-conference and 1st team all-region both years, netting 27 goals and was the Cavalier's team captain as a sophomore. He then transferred to Graceland University where he played his final two collegiate years. He had 14 goals and 7 assists during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He stayed on as an assistant coach for Graceland during their 2009 season while he finished his BA in painting. Iverson's senior exhibition "The Lamoni Years" was highly acclaimed and successful. After college, he spent three years with the PASL Kansas City Kings and led his amateur men's indoor team to a national championship.  Iverson has played for the Missouri Comets since their return to the Major Indoor Soccer League in 2010. He continues to paint and has received several awards for his paintings and illustrations and continues to display in galleries and restaurants around Kansas City.  Iverson considers himself fortunate to be able to do the things that he loves most, but more than anything he enjoys passing on his love for soccer through coaching.

Andrew is a former Legends player, high school teacher, high school coach and HappyFeet-Legends franchisee. Andrew played for Andy Barney’s 83-84 boys team in Kansas City for thirteen years and knows the powerful results of having grown up in the Legends training system. Andrew spent his entire youth soccer career playing for Andy Barney and the Kansas City Legends. At age 17/18, Andrew received parent accolades for his coaching work in the K.C. Legends Academy training program.

While playing and coaching for the Kansas City Legends Andrew spent time learning and developing a fanatical passion for soccer played the ‘Legends’ way. Andrew was a top midfielder for O'Hara and a standout for the KC Legends Soccer Club. Andrew helped his club team to five first or second place finishes at the state level and also helped the team win five National Indoor Championships between 1992-1999. Andrew played for the notoriously strong Missouri ODP team as a youth player. A gifted deceptive dribbler and goal scorer, he served as captain for the O'Hara High School soccer team and earned all-conference, All-Metro, all-district, all-region and all-state honors. An honor student, Andrew was student body president at O'Hara High School.

He participated in the MLS KC Wizards Youth Training Program in 01-02. From 2002 to 2006 Andrew attended Drury University in Springfield, MO on a soccer scholarship and majored in Secondary Education and History. Andrew played in the Professional Developmental League for the Kansas City Brass. Andrew graduated from Drury University where he was a scholarship standout and an ever present player for four years. Andrew played lead roles in several plays while attending Drury University. After graduating from University Andrew taught History at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Missouri. While teaching History Andrew was also the Boys Head Coach and Girls Assistant Soccer Coach.

In 2007 Andrew became a HappyFeet-Legends franchisee in Springfield, Missouri. With his trademark enthusiasm, phenomenal responsibility and strong communication skills, Andrew quickly established a successful HappyFeet-Legends business in the weakest demographic and smallest soccer market within the HappyFeet-Legends system. He loves the unique HappyFeet-Legends opportunity and truly believes in mentoring others with the passion for soccer taught the ‘Legends’ way. Andrew is now Vice-President of HappyFeet-Legends International. He brings his incredible work ethic and boundless energy to the business on behalf of our franchisees, and guarantees a level of education, training and service that will far surpass any “normal” level of expectation.

Pat has been a coach with the Kansas City Legends for the past 13 years. Pat really enjoys working with the early age groups encouraging them to learn and try skills. His fun loving personality and tremendous empathy for children make him the perfect coach for very young players.

In his role as Director for the SuperClubs National Teams, Pat coordinates trips for American soccer players ages U11 to U18 to play exhibition matches against the giants of the English Premier League each summer. Past opponents have included youth professional teams from Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspurs, Everton, Leeds, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan and many other fine clubs.

Pat has been married to Sheila Ozburn for over years and both enjoy watching Jack and Kameron  play soccer for the Kansas City Legends.
