Dirk Lawson

Dirk Lawson is the Rockhurst High School Junior Varsity Head Coach, and a Varsity Assistant Coach.  Coach Lawson returned to Rockhurst High School upon the closing of Archbishop O'Hara High School in 2017.  In his two years as the Head Coach of the Archbishop O’Hara Men’s Soccer Team, Coach Lawson helped lead the team to back-to-back Final Four appearances.  In 2015, O’Hara won its first ever State Championship, and in 2016, the team placed third in the state.  Coach Lawson attributes his success at O'Hara to the Legends philosophy of individual player development.  From 2011 – 2014, he was the Head Coach for the Rockhurst High School Sophomore Soccer Team, a Rockhurst High School Varsity Assistant Soccer Coach, and a member of the 2013 Class 4 State Championship team coaching staff. 

Coach Lawson has been humbled by the recognition he has received for his coaching including being an Inductee into the Archbishop O’Hara High School Lettermen’s Club Athletic Hall of Fame, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (“NSCAA”) Missouri Boy’s Parochial/Private Schools Coach of the Year, the Missouri Soccer Coaches Association Boy’s Class 2 Coach of the Year, the Missouri Soccer Coaches Association Boy’s West Region Coach of the Year, and the West Central Conference Coach of the Year.  Coach Lawson has earned the United States Soccer Federation National “D” Coaching License, the National Federation of High Schools/NSCAA Professional Development Certificate, the NSCAA Youth Coaching Certificate, the NSCAA Technical Development of the Competitive Player Diploma, and the NSCAA Attacking, Transition and Counter – Attacks Diploma.  Coach Lawson has more than 26 years of coaching experience, including high school, competitive and recreational for boys and girls.
