Christiaan Leyva

Christiaan Alexander Leyva grew up in Utrecht, Utrecht, the Netherlands and played for VV Maarssen until he moved to the States in 1990. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest high school and earned a scholarship to play at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO. In his two years there, he earned All-District and All-Conference honors while recording 16 goals and 37 assists while helping his team reach the NJCAA National Championships in his second year. He spent one year at Park University before being drafted by the Kansas City Attack indoor soccer team.  He played two years for the Attack and one year with the Vermont Voltage PDL team in St. Alban, VT. 

Christiaan has coached for the Kansas City Legends since 2013 and is currently the assistant to Matthew Iverson and helps with his 4 girls teams: Red 02/03, Jr. Comets 02/03, Red 05/06, and Lil' Red 06/07. 

In his free time he is the Captain and starting forward for the Kansas City Power Australian Football club. He also enjoys supporting Arsenal F.C, the Netherlands national team, and his hometown team F.C. Utrecht.

Christiaan considers himself fortunate for the opportunity to pass on his love for total football through coaching.
