CONGRATULATIONS KC LEGENDS 93/94 WORLD CUP GIRLS!!
They Achieved Their Goal With An Outstanding 2nd Place Finish in Las Vegas!
The KC Legends 93/94 World Cup Girls team just returned from a successful and productive three day President’s Day tournament in Las Vegas. After winning bracket one, the Legends ultimately finished second among 16 teams in the Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup College Showcase Tournament. This tournament included teams form Canada, United States and Europe. The Las Vegas Showcase is viewed as one of the top youth college showcase tournaments in the country.
To win their bracket, the Legends defeated three top U.S. and Canadian teams. On Feb. 13 they defeated the Legacy 94 Shock (Davis, California) by a score of 2-0 as well as the Players SC 94 JC by a score of 3-1. On Feb. 14 the Legends beat the Burnaby Strikers 1-0 (British Columbia). In the semi-final game later that day, Legends defeated a very tough Norman Fury 94 Green (Oklahoma State Cup Finalist) 1-0 with a goal by Holly Reynolds with 10 minutes remaining.
In the final game on Feb. 15 vs. Cap FC United 93 from California, the Legends jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Katie Sloan and a header by MacKenzie Baird off a corner by Courtney Robles. Unfortunately the lead didn’t last with the Cap FC United scoring three successive goals, the winning goal being scored with one minute remaining.
